Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings series has a name, if not overly redundant, that touches the nose – The Lord of the Rings: Ring of Power.
Lord of the Rings is already an amazing title. The Ring of Power is also good, but putting the two side-by-side is an odd choice, but you know what, it’s the one Amazon is using. Fortunately, the trailer released today announces that the title is more interesting than the actual title it reveals.
As you can see in the video above, it features some very Lord of the Rings-esque music, as well as the molten creation of the ring at the center of this Middle-earth story. The rings are created on top of what appears to be a map that features some mist-covered mountains and other terrain. The Lord of the Rings: The Ring of Might is coming to Amazon Prime Video on September 2nd later this year.
in a story hollywood reporter, the publication has more details on what to expect from the show. Specifically, the series will follow the forging and creation of the Ring of Power that the series title refers to.
“It’s a title on the spine of a book that we thought could sit alongside the rest of JRR Tolkien’s classics,” said showrunners JD Payne and Patrick McKay ECG“The Ring of Power brings together all the major stories of the Second Age of Middle-earth: the forging of the ring, the rise of the dark lord Sauron, the epic tale of Númenor, and the final alliance of elves and men. So far, the audience has only The One Ring story has been seen on screen – but before it came out, there were many…and we’re excited to share the epic stories of all of them.”
While you wait to learn more about the series, read the story that the first Lord of the Rings movie just turned 20 last month (which is kind of crazy), then check out the trailer for the upcoming Middle-earth game The Lord of the Rings Film: Gollum.
