While not as big as the nearly $50 billion acquisition of semiconductor maker Xilinx, the deal makes AMD more competitive in the data center market. Pensando makes chips and software designed to make data centers more efficient in cloud computing, which AMD can use in their products to compete with Nvidia’s Grace super chips.
