Anthony Mackie will star in the twisted metal live-action series

deadline report Captain America star Anthony McKay will star in and perform the production of the twisted metal live-action series on Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions.

“We are very happy that Anthony Mackie has joined us. His ability to blend comedy, action and drama is very suitable for the twisted world we are creating,” said Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions.

Mackie will play John Doe, an amnesiac character who first appeared in Twisted Metal Black in 2001. The background story seems to be roughly the same as the game. John joins the vehicle battle in order to have a chance to remember who he is.

“For many years, we have been big fans of Anthony’s extraordinary work and know that he is the only actor who can play a role as complex, interesting and engaging as John Doe. Fortunately for us, he agreed.” Glenn Adilman, executive vice president of comedy development for Sony TV explained.

Twisted Metal also has writers from Deadpool and Cobra Kai participating in the project, so the black humor of the series seems to be well controlled. Having a big name like Anthony McKay involved will only help increase the visibility of the project, especially considering that he has been selected to play Captain America 4.

At the same time, Sony and PlayStation continue to make progress in converting many of their properties into adapted versions, and the high-profile “Last Of Survivor” series starring Pedro Pascal will be released soon. Although Twisted Metal currently does not have the same brand awareness as The Last of Us, Sony seems to want to ensure and change this.
