As of March 2021, 65 million copies of the Donkey Kong series have been sold
In addition to the news this morning that the Donkey Kong theme area will enter the Super Nintendo World in Japan, Nintendo also revealed the total global sales of the Donkey Kong series. The Donkey Kong series launched arcade games in 1981 and has now sold more than 65 million copies worldwide. Unfortunately, Nintendo has not announced a new Donkey Kong game, but rumors that emerged earlier this year indicate that Nintendo EPD is working hard to develop a new 3D or 2.5D Donkey Kong game.

Since then, the Donkey Kong series of games have continued to launch more games on the Nintendo video game system, such as the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Wii and Nintendo Switch.
