Ascent hits PlayStation in March, new Game Plus now available for PC
Cyberpunk twin-stick shooter The Ascent will find a new home on the PlayStation next month. The game has only been available on Xbox consoles and PC since its launch last July.
PS5 and PS4 players can step into the world of The Ascent on March 24. Pre-order to get the RPEG 33 Energy Rocket Launcher. The top-down shooter lets players travel through a cyberpunk dystopia alone or with up to three other friends. The game features a variety of weapons and cybernetic abilities as well as RPG-style progression and side quests.
There are also new goodies for Steam players. New Game+ is now available to allow players who have completed the game to replay the game with all equipment/data intact. Enemies and their attacks are stronger and hit harder, and the level has been increased to 30+. Weapons can also be upgraded above Mk.10. The Cyber Warrior DLC pack, now available for PC, adds two weapons, three weapon skins, seven armor pieces, and a new tactic for $4.99.
Ascent is one of the most visually impressive games of 2021. While its gameplay and storytelling don’t always hit the mark, it offers a respectable co-op experience. GI video editor Alex Stadnik wrote in his review: “The Ascent had issues, but those issues didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of the game. I won’t be writing a paper on capitalism reviews, but I’ll be fondly remembered Co-op sessions torn apart in this cyberpunk world. Having said that, shallow RPG elements, lack of meaningful narrative and exploration frustration are constants that really drag down the experience. Neon Giant has laid a solid foundation and I hope we can Seeing future installments grow into something that’s really worth a lift.”
