Back to 4 Blood PvP Guide
The Versus mode of Back 4 Blood is very suitable for those who always want to play the role of a tall boy. It is you and the team against the other four human players. You start with either a zombie or a human, then switch sides.
Naturally, Versus is very different from the campaign mode. In order to make your first Back 4 Blood PvP game as successful as possible, it doesn’t hurt to know a few things about the playable Ridden, the mutation point system, and the deadly Swarm.
Return to 4 Blood Versus mode explanation
In the battle mode, if you play as a rider (zombie), your goal is to kill the cleaner (human character) as quickly as possible. If you are on the Cleaner team, your goal is to live as long as possible. Each team consists of four players, and their roles are randomly assigned.
However, at the beginning of the next round, the roles will be reversed. If you play the role of a cleaner in the first round, you must ensure that the new cleaner will not survive longer than your team. If they cannot exceed your score, you win. The team that wins the first two rounds is the winner.
How to play as a rider in Back 4 Blood Versus mode
If you start with the Ridden team, the first thing you need to do is choose your zombie type. There are three special infections to choose from, each with three subtypes. The following is an overview of each playable riding class in Back 4 Blood Versus mode:
prick
Although this four-armed organism is small, it is highly mobile. The stinger can cling to the wall, jump long distances, and perform long-range projectile attacks. Hocker variants can also perform long-range harpoon attacks, but are more vulnerable. On the other hand, the Stalker variant exchanges its long-range projectile for two melee attacks.
Lake
A heavy and slow riding type designed for suicide attacks. He has a melee attack, which can be used to force the cleaner to kill you at close range. If Reeker is killed, he will explode and damage the vision of all nearby cleaners. The explosion will also arouse the alertness of a large group of ordinary infected people. The Exploder variant has a weaker melee attack, but can trigger an explosion at will, while the Retch variant gets an extra vomit attack.
Tall boy
A bit slow, but lethal at close range. This huge riding tank has an equally huge right arm, which he uses as a club to knock down the cleaner. He can execute a short forward burst to get closer to his goal. Bruiser variants can also use large-scale melee range slam attacks, while Crusher can use additional squeeze attacks.
However, choosing a riding profession is not the only thing you have to do before the race: it is also important to use break points for riding upgrades. You can upgrade one of the three occupations mentioned above, or strengthen ordinary infected people. By destroying (not necessarily killing) the cleaner, you will gain more mutation points.
How to play as a cleaner in Back 4 Blood Versus mode
If you start your Back 4 Blood PvP round as a cleaner, choose your human character. They are the same characters in the battle. Next, you choose a preset PvP deck and choose your card (you will get a new draw at the beginning of each new round).
This will spawn you on the Versus map. But don’t worry: this is just the preparation phase. Use this time to open the crates, choose the best weapons, and set up defenses (barbed wire, traps, etc.).
Now you just need to kill the rider and try to stay alive. Please note that special infected persons are accompanied by tribes (common infected AI). Since players usually go all out from the beginning (although the tribe is a bit slow), you should pay attention to them the most.
Return to 4 Blood PvP Tip: How to win the battle mode
The battle map of Back 4 Blood will shrink over time, which makes the survival of the cleaners more and more difficult. If the cleaners leave the safe area (similar to those in most battle royale games), they will be harmed by the swarm. However, the swarm cannot harm the rider.
If you are on the Cleaner team, please stand together. A lone player often becomes a dead player. As for Ridden, you should always pay attention to the easy single goal.
If there is more than one type of special infected in the team, spending mutation points on that rider type will upgrade all special infected.
If you are a rider, don’t underestimate the tribe. If you only spend mutation points on special infected people controlled by you and your teammates, it may be difficult to overwhelm the cleaners. A powerful tribe will distract them, making it easier to kill.
