Baldur’s Gate 3 may be released in 2023

Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3, after years of development (including Early Access), will likely release in 2023.

This message is via PCGamesN, recently spoke with Larian head Swen Vincke about the state of RPGs. According to Vincke, the team still needs another year of development, but this year will be the last full year needed to work on the game.

“We’ll release it when it’s ready,” Vincke said. “I mean, the main goal here is quality: getting the game to the level of quality it needs to be. That said, we do think we still need a year to do that. But this will be the last year. We are coming to an end.”

When asked about the launch, Vinck told PCGamesN “Probably not this year, but not much later than that.” It sounds like 2022 is off the table, but 2023 is a sure bet. Of course, anything could happen between now and then, which could push back release expectations, but it sounds like we’ll be playing the final version of Baldur’s Gate 3 next year if things go according to plan.

In the meantime, read the Baldur’s Gate 3 update, which includes new “game-changing” mechanics, fine-tuned role-playing, and more, then check out the recently added Druid classes along with loaded dice options, better cutscenes, and Multiplayer Features. Watch the awesome cover of “Down By The River” from Baldur’s Gate 3 afterwards.
