Blizzard is dealing with the “character lock” error in “Diablo 2: Resurrection”
The release of “Diablo 2: Resurrection” yesterday was not the smoothest release ever. Shortly after it went live, reports of the disappearing character began to roll in. Blizzard took the game offline for “unscheduled maintenance,” and after a few hours everything seemed to be sorted out.

In the update released today, Blizzard stated that it intends to release a permanent fix for the error for the console today and “soon after”.At the same time, it is recommended that players Use different names for online and offline characters, Because the same name is used for “related to this error.”
“In addition, our team is working hard to solve the problem of role locking,” Hooley, Diablo 2 Community Manager explain“Many of these characters are already in the process of unlocking. We expect this process to take several hours to complete.”
“For players who cannot create or join the game lobby, we have been evaluating activities that prevent them from playing games in these sessions. We are actively working to find solutions to these problems.”
Blizzard is still working to resolve the crash error and AVX issues that prevent players from starting Diablo 2: Resurrection, and is “observing” various other issues and errors. Once the larger issues mentioned above are resolved, updates in this area will be shared.
