Vedelem: The Golden Horde is a real-time strategy game for surf survival based on the Mongolian invasion of Eastern Europe. When the Golden Horde puts pressure on you, your job is to build economic structures to expand your territory, collect resources, and draw more troops to engage in large-scale battles with the ever-growing enemy. You have always wanted to strengthen and upgrade your land, and build inhabited walls and buildings between your central fortress and enemy forces.
Vedelem is also completely free. It was produced by Castle Roaches, a student game development team at the Breda University of Applied Sciences, a Dutch university with a game design course.
In order to survive, you need to deploy thousands of soldiers on the battlefield to fight against thousands of soldiers brought by the enemy. There are three modes: skirmish, challenge and endless mode. Each mode has its own twists and turns. This is a simple enough game to collect a small amount of resources and recruit three different types of troops, but don’t stop you from trying it out. For student projects, it is very balanced and has much more content than you might expect.
You can find Vedelem on Steam: The Golden Horde.
