Chris Pratt is Mario in the animated Mario Bros movie

Not satisfied with the display of all the new games in Direct last night, Nintendo further stimulated things with the first news of its animation Super Mario Bros Function and lighting studio. The star-studded cast was introduced by Shigeru Miyamoto himself.

We did not see the character design, nor did we really understand any details of the story, background or plot. However, Miyamoto did reveal the full cast of the movie, including many big-name actors-the most famous being Chris Pratt as Mario and Anya Taylor Joy as Peach.

• Anya Taylor-Joy-Princess Peach.
• Charlie Day-Luigi.
• Jack Black-Bowser.
• Keegan-Michael Key-Toad.
• Seth Logan-Donkey Kong.
• Fred Armison-The grumpy King Kong.
• Kevin Michael Richardson-Kamek.
• Sebastian Manisco-Spike.

If this is not enough, Shigeru Miyamoto also revealed that Charles Martin, the man behind Mario’s iconic voice, will appear in the movie.

Illumination is the studio behind Minions, Despicable Me and other popular animated films. Shigeru Miyamoto is the producer with Chris Meledandri of Illumination. Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic of Teen Titan Go will direct. The film is jointly funded by Universal Pictures and Nintendo.

The Mario movie is scheduled to be released in North America on December 21, 2022, and release dates in other regions will follow.

The animated film was originally announced in 2018, but no reliable updates about its progress have been shared since then. In the next few months, we may hear more about it.
