Shigeru Miyamoto crashed on today’s Nintendo Direct to make some major announcements about Illumination Entertainment’s Mario animated film. Miyamoto not only canceled the planned release time of the film, but also canceled the exact release date in North America. He also revealed the star lineup of the movie.
The 2022 holiday is the day when Mario’s feature-length films will be released worldwide. It will premiere in North America on December 21, 2022, and dates in other regions will be announced later.
Following the premiere time, Miyamoto revealed most of the cast, namely:
- Chris Pratt as Mario
- Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach
- Charlie Day as Luigi
- Jack Black as Bowser
- Keegan-Michael Key as Toad
- Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong
- Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek
- Fred Armison as Cranky Kong
- Sebastian Manisco as Spike
Those who are worried about whether Mario’s traditional voice is excluded, don’t be afraid! Charles Martinet, who has voiced Mario and other residents of the Mushroom Kingdom for many years, will appear in the “surprise cameo” throughout the film.
