Dead Activision Blizzard franchise Microsoft should bring back

Guitar Hero: Live, released in 2015, was the last we heard of the series. While Live does some interesting things, it misses a lot of what made rock rhythm games unique in the first place. Activision, now under the Xbox umbrella, has a special revival opportunity, and one just has to look at the current Guitar Hero community and see what’s needed: a return to form. When the music video played in the background, people weren’t interested in the actual rendition of guitar chords – they wanted an arcade guitar experience that put fun over realism.

Ditch the black and white buttons and bring back everyone’s favorite combination of green, red, yellow, blue and orange. Collect some modern rock songs to play alongside the classics and toss in “Through the Fire and Flames” for even better results. Give us the stylized visuals of the original three entries and include more ways to customize the band than ever before. Add a little star power, and Xbox can easily have a new classic. – Wesley LeBron
