Dying Light 2 PlayStation 5 performance and resolution modes detailed in new trailer

Techland has released a new trailer detailing the game modes in the PlayStation 5 version of Dying Light 2 Remain.

As with recent PS5 games, there are three modes: Performance, Quality, and Resolution. Each option offers players a different type of gameplay demo, but according to the trailer released today, all three options look great.

The so-called Quality mode with ray tracing is exactly what you’d expect since it’s a high-res mode that prioritizes ray tracing capabilities over performance. While there is no official word, this mode seems to us to be 60 FPS, or at least higher than 30 FPS.

As the name suggests, Resolution Mode keeps 4K visuals above all else. This is the most visually impactful mode based on the trailer, and it doesn’t appear to be 30 FPS. Although, without any official word, it most likely is. After all, this is just a trailer, and while it shows off the gameplay, we won’t know how well the modes will perform until the game is in our hands.

Finally, performance mode is all about parkour and action that we suspect many players will use in first-person games. The trailer describes it as “60+ FPS”, so this mode seems to prioritize keeping 60 FPS and be able to hit higher frames per second.

In other news, Techland also announced that the cross-platform and cross-generation console co-op game of Dying Light 2 will be released on February 4. However, if you buy the PS4 or Xbox One version and wish to upgrade to their contemporary counterparts doing so will be free.
