Last month, digital game sales and some services were suspended due to long queues to access Final Fantasy XIV servers until things calmed down. Now, Square Enix is preparing to allow new accounts to be created within a few weeks.
according to a Developer Blog Post, January 25th will be the date Final Fantasy XIV will resume digital sales. The move coincides with the opening of a new Oceania data center already planned, bringing five new worlds and hopefully easing congestion in other worlds. It also means that the suspended Home World Transfer Service will also resume on January 25, allowing players to bring their characters to these new servers, or elsewhere, barring any restrictions on the still-overpopulated world. Free trials frequently used by FFXIV will remain frozen for the time being.
There’s also the data center travel system, which expands the player’s ability to visit other worlds to play with friends or quests/etc. Currently, a similar feature exists in the game, but only allows you to access worlds that share a data center with your character’s home world. However, with the new data center travel system, you will be able to travel to servers located in different data centers. However, as listed in the blog post, there are some limitations.
- Players will be able to access the world in other logical data centers within the same physical data center.
- Players will not be able to access worlds in other regions/physical datacenters.
- While interregional travel is technically possible, implementation is still being considered.
- The journey doesn’t start when you log into the game, but from the character selection screen.
FFXIV producer Naoki Yoshida said in the post, “There are almost no restrictions. Whether it’s doing quests, forming a party, or using the quest finder, you can play the game as usual.” However, while traveling to another data center, a certain Some communication services will not be available, so if necessary, arrange another way to chat with your Free Company or hometown friends.
Other data centers around the world are also scheduled to be updated in the coming months and years to allow more people to play games at the same time.you can Developer blog post here.
