Fortnite 2fa: How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication in Fortnite
If you want to protect your Epic account and For all your Fortnite skins and V-bucks, you’ll need to set up two-factor authentication, or “2FA.” We live in a world where hacking and phishing scams are so common that even Epic warns against leaking your information to the wrong parties. You don’t want to lose your precious, precious skin, or worse, have someone else spend your precious V-bucks. That’s why you need to know how to set up 2FA for Fortnite.
The good news is that once you have a guide, everything becomes a breeze. Read on to learn how to enable two-factor authentication for your Epic Games account.
How to Set Up 2FA on Epic
The first step is Sign in to your Epic account (Or make one, if you haven’t already). After that, you will be sent to your profile page. You’ll see a column on the left. Select the Password & Security tab.
Once in the Password and Security page, scroll down to find the Two-Factor Authentication section.
There are three options for enabling 2FA in Fortnite. You can set as many as you want, with one option as the main option.
2FA Option 1: Authenticator application.
For this option, you can download an authenticator app from your phone’s app store.I recommend Google Authenticator app. Whenever you need to verify your login, you just open the app, look for the code it generates, and enter it before it steps out.
2FA option 2: SMS notification.
This is familiar. When trying to do a 2FA login, you’ll get a text with a code on your phone.
2FA option 3: Email notification.
Another self-explanatory option. Instead of text, you will receive an email with a code you need to enter.
That’s it. You have successfully enabled 2FA in Fortnite and your Epic account. You may need to log back in, especially if you’re logging into a new device elsewhere, but it’s a small price to pay to keep your cosmetics and V-bucks out of the hands of thieves.
What is 2FA?
Two-factor authentication (sometimes abbreviated as 2FA) is basically a double-check system that ensures you know what’s going on with your account: logins or changes must be independently verified via an email link or a standalone app before being allowed. Sometimes it may be It’s cumbersome, but the added security is worth it.
