The Forza Horizon 5 meteorological system is inspired by the diversity of Mexico.
Forza Horizon 5With the release of E32021, the gameplay was seen for the first time. In particular, the game’s weather system is much more prominent, with 3D particles, divine rays, and various new effects added to the series.
But what was revealed did not touch on one of the somewhat controversial aspects of Forza Horizon 4. It’s seasonal weather. In the 2018 game, Playground was able to determine the weather for all server-side players. The game automatically rotated throughout the four seasons each month, which also meant that certain activities could become unavailable or difficult under certain conditions.
As much as it was impressive, many felt that having a fixed season each week was too restrictive and a bit artificial. Playground hasn’t said whether this weekly structure will return to Forza Horizon 5, but the developers have outlined how the season is approaching in the next game.
Talk to IGN, Creative Director Mike Brown explained that maps of Mexico have different weather conditions in different regions and can all be present in the same season.
“If it’s raining in Edinburgh, it’s raining everywhere in the world,” Brown said of Forza Horizon 4’s UK weather.
“Mexico is a country with large changes in altitude and is clearly a very large country, so seasonality varies from region to region. We tried to reproduce this as accurately as possible,” he added.
What this really means is that the same season can cause snowfall on the summit of the volcano and the surrounding mountains, as well as heat waves on the coast.
“It’s still four seasons-you’ll still see the seasonality change-but it affects different biomes in different ways,” he explained.
“Dust storms occur during the dry season, and tropical cyclones occur during the autumn storm season, so these large, large-scale meteorological events can occur based on which season you are in. Both are very dynamic. They really have a big impact on the driving experience. “
Elsewhere in the interview, Brown touched on free roaming. He said this was a favorite activity of the community later in the game after running out of much of the content created. This allowed the team to find new ways to make their open world drive more rewarding and interesting.
“We needed [Forza Horizon 5] To be a diverse game. We also want to make the game really rewarding for exploration, “Brown said.
“So now we are in a world where we can find so many things. There is a challenge system that rewards you when you explore, and you can find a lot of things … but a campaign that actually enhances it. There are also, so if you are exploring, the campaign will also proceed. “
Forza Horizon 5 will be available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X / S on November 9th. Provides a 60fps performance mode on the Xbox Series X / S.
