Dune: Spice Wars is an exciting prospect for fans of real-time strategy and fans of the popular book (and recently Oscar-nominated film). The game brings the series back to its RTS roots, though we don’t see much beyond the movie teasers. However, a new trailer shows off its tactical gameplay for the first time.
The trailer shows how players will command units on Arrakis. You’ll lead your chosen faction using a variety of methods, whether it’s a show of political influence, a strong economy, or pure open warfare. As you travel the world and encounter/occupy villages, you gather resources and set up spice harvesters to keep money flowing, while using armies to deter attackers. In addition to the single-player campaign, developer Shiro Games previously confirmed a multiplayer campaign as well.
Dune: Spice Wars is coming to PC Early Access sometime this year. You can learn more about the game from the game’s FAQ.
