I am totally obsessed with fishing and crafts in the new world
After staring at more than 900 players trying to enter the queue of my chosen new world server for the second night, I gave up the role I had reached level 14. I searched for a new avatar on the server with the smallest population I could find and create. I can’t spend more than an hour in line for the new world-when all I really want to do is fishing. Fishing in the new world makes me addicted.
I tried to make my new character look like a weather-beaten and sunburned fisherman, and decided to let him wear his starting rags, ignore all tasks, and let him focus entirely on fishing and some other handicraft projects. Yuyu Jim was born, and I played with him for a few hours, as happy as a clam.
In our list The best fishing in PC games, I said that fishing should be a combination of relaxation and excitement.I am looking for a calm experience, that is, waiting in line for a light meal, and the thrill of catching something cool or unexpected or just simple BigThe fishing nails of the New World nailed all this.
Although I find the fantasy elements of the new world a bit boring, it is still a great place to kill time. Soothing. I usually prefer the challenge of fishing-it may be a bit too simple in the new world. Just cast the line, wait, and click when the icon shows that you have taken a bite. (It even warns you that you are about Take a bite. ) Then just press and hold the mouse button to take up the thread and release it when the tension is high enough to break the thread. Unless you are fighting to catch a monster fish, there is not much trouble at all.
Although it is almost guaranteed that you will catch something, it’s still a bit excited, and I’m talking about more than just a high-level wolf suddenly laying eggs next to my fishing spot and immediately pounced on me (this gives New World sometimes The feeling of Far Cry). Occasionally I will hook some unusual things. In fact, when Yuyu Jim dropped his fishing line for the second time, he was involved in a fish sword. Unfortunately, it cannot be used as a weapon and can only be used as scrap. This is a huge bummer! Fishy Jim fights with zombies with fish sword? It’s perfect.
There is also a chance to pull into the treasure chest, which may be the only way for FJ to obtain any valuables. I got three boxes in a session in a small pond, each box was filled with ingots, gold and gems. I didn’t expect to start honing my jewelry making skills so early, but I was already on the way.
I should probably mention the actual, you know, fishThere are various sizes, from giant salmon, barracuda and catfish to creatures such as squid and clams. You don’t think that snails will fight when they roll them up, but you are wrong. They are quite stubborn. Take it from Fishy Jim. If you perch on the edge of a waterfall, you can use a fish hook to find a small deep point. Who knows what you will pull out of the water? It took this fool three full minutes to get involved, but it was worth it:
There are also fishing missions. They let my low-level Jim jog nervously across the map to a much higher level area to perform missions in exchange for fishing gear. At about 8th level, I walked through the creepy ghost-infested forest, trying to find these distant master anglers to obtain fishing boots, gloves, and hats. At level 10, I finally collected all five fishing outfits, but I couldn’t really wear them until I reached level 14 through hunting and crafting or even fighting some monsters. The task is (finally) completed. The fishy Jim finally looks like this character.
When I am not fishing, I will upgrade some of my crafting skills. Although it may be a bit cumbersome, it is also a surprisingly generous system in many ways. Collecting a bush or a cluster of burdock by the river will not only give you wood or reeds. You can also collect some bait (Jim likes this) or other resources that can be used in alchemy, cooking, or other types of crafts. Just like fishing will bring you some surprises from time to time, so does harvesting other resources. The task of collecting some ore or herbs will result in returning to town with a bag of other goodies, allowing you to access recipes you don’t have or even expect. Can be manufactured.
Another aid for foraging is to discover the sixth sense of certain plants. This is subtle, and I like this: when your harvesting level is high enough, when you get close to grains, hemp, and other types of plants, tiny little icons will appear on the compass. This is a very unobtrusive system-other games may use a glowing line to outline the outline of the plant, or use icons to litter your map, but these small compass points will not cover the screen or Get in the way. And they are very useful. Before I followed the compass to count points, I didn’t know that there were even nuts in the new world! They are almost invisible in the dense grass and bushes, but now I have a lot of them.
I quickly got tired of such activities Felling trees Or mining rocks in the game to get ore, to be honest, there is not much difference in the new world. Standing in one place swinging an axe is not a fun thing. But there are at least some efforts to reduce resistance to this resource collection, mainly due to the beautiful sound effects. Cutting down in mineral deposits with a pickaxe does not require any skills, but the sharp cracks in the stone with the pickaxe are very pleasant, especially when you get the same sharp echo from nearby trees and cliffs. It has the crisp sound of gunshots, and it’s equally satisfying to run in the valley and hear someone else’s pick cracking from a rock somewhere on the cliff. As a bonus, the monsters didn’t seem to notice the sound and came to investigate (although they probably should.)
There are too many things to make. Armor suits and clothing, jewelry and furniture, as well as a large number of meals that the restaurant needs a large menu to accommodate. I’m still in its infancy, and I can’t say with certainty that the promise of unlocking a new level of craftsmanship will continue to sharpen me, but it certainly is now. I want to make too many things. I made Jim an axe that can carry out lightning attacks on enemies. I made a silver ring, several kinds of fishing lures, and a stronger fishing rod. I cook spaghetti today. Spaghetti!
Obviously I am not an MMO person, but as a survival fan, I enjoy these systems. These systems are designed to keep me busy. These systems have nothing to do with territorial wars or non-fishing-related tasks. I won’t say that the production is really attractive, but it was friendly and generous enough at the beginning, making me want to continue to improve my skills and unlock new recipes. I think survival enthusiasts who usually don’t play MMO may still find some enjoyment in the new world, whether it’s cooking, crafting, or finding a quiet little pond to fish.
