Insomniac’s Wolverine needs to occupy the same world as Marvel’s Spider-Man

Today, Insomniac Games opened the curtain on two Marvel projects: Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine. Considering the trajectory and success of the first Spider-Man and Miles Morales, the previous game was expected, but the Logan-based game was a welcome surprise. The team has proven that they know how to use superpowers as proficiently as any of Marvel’s heroes, and I am very happy to see them solve another major event. More importantly, I hope this game will mark the establishment of Insomniac’s own video game Marvel Universe.

Marvel’s Spider-Man firmly established the existence of other heroes through the landmarks of New York City. The Avengers Building, Temple Temple, Nelson and Murdoch Law Firm, and many other well-known locations provide clear trailers of heroes that Insomniac may solve. The more time I spend around the city, flexibly destroying bad guys and absorbing great stories, the more excited I become about Insomniac’s idea of applying the same craftsmanship to any hero under the Marvel umbrella. Wolverine’s work is as good as anyone.

I have no doubt that Wolverine will be good no matter what it turns out. I just want it to be firmly immersed in the same world occupied by Peter and Myers in the Insomniac version. Their ability to tell stories is first-rate, and I believe that if the studio is willing, it can seamlessly bring together other heroes like the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A massive X-Men at the helm of Insomniac or a less polarizing Avengers story? Register for me. Wolverine can take a step towards this reality.

In other words, I don’t need to see Logan groaning under Spider-Man’s witty words, because the two greeted in the opening minutes of the game to establish contact. Pub TV broadcasts new reports on Roxon’s scandal in Harlem, and Logan’s beer works well. Wolverine should be an independent experience with light connective tissue, not a steady stream of “those spider boys live here too!” Insomniac has clearly won the trust of Marvel and can spend time into large team games, especially because of it Shows that it still wants to work in other series, such as Ratchet & Clank. I just want this kind of cross-play to happen, because it may be a game for many years.
