Knuckles is doing a TV show, yes, Idris Elba is Knuckles again
Paramount has confirmed that an original Knuckles series is in development, and like the second Sonic film, Idris Elba | Will be very serious (check google) the sound of the echidna. Is the knuckle an echidna? Talk about burying lede.
But yes, it’s happening, and it will premiere exclusively on Paramount Plus in 2023. This is the streaming service run by Paramount, and other newly announced projects from the company include the Dungeons & Dragons movie, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie and the new Star Trek series. No other details have been announced, but I think you can safely assume it will resemble a live-action film, just with a focus on Elba’s knuckles, and in a serialized format.
Oh, and even though the second Sonic movie is still months away, the third is already set. In a statement posted on Sonic’s official Twitter account, Sega CEO Haruki Satomi expressed his delight at how the entire Sonic Cinematic Universe is doing (thanks, Jeff Keighley).
“We’re excited to announce that Paramount+’s third Sonic theatrical film and first live-action film series are in active development,” Satomi said, along with a few other celebratory sentences, as well as a reminder of the upcoming Sonic Frontiers game “this Holiday”.

Sonic Frontiers might look good, and despite all the talk about Sonic games for years, it turned out bad (Sonic Mania is a notable exception). Still, Frontiers seems to confuse the formula, at least: its trailer An open-world setting is hinted at, and according to early rumors, there may even be “Ubisoft Tower‘.
As for that Sonic the Hedgehog sequel, it’s still scheduled to hit theaters this April.
