Lost Ark is limiting new character creation to address long queue times
The Lost Ark, an MMO developed by Smilegate and operated by Amazon, started off strong, peaking at over 500,000 concurrent players steam. Unfortunately, this has resulted in excessively long queue times on some servers, and in response, the developers have placed limits on new player character creation on these servers.
Existing players on affected servers can still create new characters for their roster, but new players are not allowed to join or create characters on them. Limited servers include:
North America West
North America East
EU Central
- Cardan
- Trixion
- Thilan
- Synneville
- stay
No time frame has been set for character creation limits, but the Lost Ark team says it will be in place “for the foreseeable future.” Additional servers will be rolled out, starting with a server in Central Europe (Beatrice) and a server in North America East (Elzowin).
“While we were delighted to see the amazing response and support surrounding The Lost Ark preemption, we know the server and queue situation is frustrating for many players,” said Roxx, Community Manager, Lost Ark wrote“Our team is actively working to help mitigate these issues ahead of the free-to-play launch on Friday. While restricting character creation and opening new servers is only a small part of addressing this complexity, we’ll be getting more information about more than one we’ll get later today. The measures that will be taken in time will be available to players.”
