Looking forward to books on witchcraft and evil. And vampires, probably because Blade is there.

Here’s the Midnight Sun trailer we’ve seen
Marvel’s Midnight Sun has been revealed movie trailer. It deliberately created the game’s spooky vibe and introduced Marvel headlines – we’ve got Doctor Strange, Iron Man, Ghost Rider, and more – as well as player-controlled and customizable hunter heroes. We get to see Lilith, the mother of demons, the game’s main antagonist (and the number one enemy in the comics’ storyline, one of the game’s inspiring touchpoints). It also joins the trend of using moody pop songs to cover trailers, as we all wonder what a more introspective and anxious Enter Sandman would sound like. But it ends with a shot of Doctor Strange in his best Assassin’s Creed cosplay, so at least that’s it.
This Gameplay Revealed The trailer met with mixed feelings. Fans looking to get closer to the XCOM model find Midnight Sun combines turn-based tactics with card mechanics. One Official Game Overview Shows how the game performs in and out of combat.
this VOD Game show live Showcasing a brief mission walkthrough of the X-Men villain Sabertooth, a deeper look at card tactics and how they reflect the style of the Marvel hero you’ll be building. We also get to see The Abbey – your headquarters, where you’ll be hanging out between missions with your ever-growing roster of superheroes.
So who is the hunter?
Midnight Sun will have 13 playable heroes. First up is Hunter, an original hero created for the game and your player character. You will be able to choose between male and female hunters and customize their appearance. As the hunter, you are the child of the game’s main villain: Lilith, the mother of demons. This is clearly not a warm relationship. You are the only one who has defeated Lilith in the past, sealing her up long ago and entering your own centuries-long slumber. She was resurrected by Hydra (surprise), so you’re unfrozen to stop Mom from summoning the Old Gods and doing the apocalypse.
What other heroes have Midnight Sun confirmed?
As a hunter, you will fight alongside 12 well-known heroes from Marvel classics. In the comics, Midnight Children’s lineup (more on the original Playboy) tends toward more obscure mystery-themed heroes, with some well-known names like Doctor Strange, Ghost Rider, and Blade. For Midnight Suns, Firaxis will bring a ton of Avengers and X-Men. The 9 heroes that have been confirmed so far:
- Captain America
- blade
- magician
- iron Man
- Wolverine (voiced by Steve Bloom as always)
- Doctor Strange
- captain marvel
- Nicole
- Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes incarnation (he has a car))
We can only speculate on the last three positions. Living Vampire Mobius is one of the original Midnight Sons in the first comic book storyline, and is from Upcoming Jared Leto Interpretation From a business perspective, it’s not the worst idea.Meanwhile, Moon Knight also has a history of supernatural weirdness and Midnight’s Children, and is about to have his own A live-action miniseries starring Oscar Isaac.
Or maybe it’s just Spider-Man. Everyone loves Spider-Man.
What will Marvel’s Midnight Sun game look like?
While creative director Jake Solomon claims Midnight Suns will be “completely different” from XCOM, it’s still a Firaxis tactical RPG. You’ll still manage your character team’s abilities and upgrades, and choose which characters to bring with you when deploying turn-based combat missions.
But there are some big differences from XCOM mode – namely Midnight Sun is a card game. Rather than having your character actions use the action bar on cooldown, each turn you’ll draw a hand from the deck you’ll be assembling for each hero. These are useful options for how your heroes will attack, or use their power for defense boosts and stealth buffs.
These cards use the keyword mechanic, like you’d find in Slay the Spire, Hearthstone, or Magic: The Gathering. For example, Wolverine’s ability card has a lot of taunt keywords that, when used, draw the enemy’s attention. It’s hard to focus on anything else when you’re in the midst of a small whirlwind of violence in Canada.
Heroism counters build as you use abilities, allowing some cards to redeem a certain amount of heroism for additional effects. A Wolverine card gains a lifesteal keyword above a certain heroism threshold, healing for any damage he deals.
Unlike XCOM’s grid-based gameplay, characters in Midnight Sun can move freely while turning and aim at any point within a radius. No need to worry about hit percentage. As the developers said in the livestream above, these are true superheroes – they don’t give Captain America the chance to miss 95% of his attack rolls. You also won’t be dealing with permadeath. For better or worse, Marvel isn’t going to let a basic enemy kill Iron Man forever just because you make the wrong turn.
Between missions, you’ll retire to the monastery at the headquarters of the Midnight Sun. You’ll be able to interact with your teammates, building friendships with them in dialogue tree conversations and hangout sequences. Here you can also manage and upgrade ability cards of your choice for your heroes. Craftsmanship is also mentioned, as well as some discoverable legends. It’s somewhere between XCOM’s base management and hanging out with Normandy companions in Mass Effect, with some light-hearted exploration.
Because this is a superhero game, both hunters and existing heroes have different outfits to choose from. It’s unclear if these are just unlockable cosmetic items, or if they’re tied to crafted upgrades. I hope it’s the latter. I hope the mysterious embellishments on the trailer’s costume are the product of whatever magic alloy I use to strengthen Iron Man’s armor. No word on whether more will be available for purchase. Hopefully there are enough aesthetic options without having to spend more.
What else do we know?
- According to the developers, the game will be long. To give an idea, it was mentioned in the game show stream that even after playing for a dozen hours, you’d still be recruiting heroes for the cause — in this case, Wolverine.
- In addition to customizing the look of hunters, you can also customize their living space in the monastery.
- You have a pet Cerberus named Charlie. She can help you find treasure. Yes, you can touch her.
- Comic Crossover Storyline Rise of the Midnight Children is the main source of inspiration for the game. In the early 1990s, it brought together a group of Marvel goths to save the world from Lilith and her demonic children. The original team lineup consisted of — no kidding — three separate Ghost Riders. Midnight’s Son There have been several iterations in the years since. To be sure, any Marvel hero is some sort of nocturnal creature or mystical practitioner who has been involved.
- You can get Blade’s “exclusive Nightstalker skin” by signing up for the Midnight Suns newsletter on the game site,if you are willing to.
