E3 2021 will be held from June 12th to 15th as a rethinking, fully virtual online event. Nintendo, Xbox, Bethesda, Square Enix, Sega, Bandai Namco, Ubisoft, Capcom and more will deliver new video game announcements, trailers, release dates and more.

Microsoft is clearly changing the game case for the Xbox title.Box art Seen on the best buy And Other retailers Since the launch of the Xbox One, we’ve been calling for more prominent compatible platforms while avoiding the embossed Xbox logo on the front of the game case.

This is a subtle change that you may not notice for a while, given how many full-copy sales of video games are available online today. It’s also necessary given that Microsoft supports two consoles, and despite backward compatibility with the Xbox Series X, some games are actually Series X only.

Microsoft has long sought to consolidate its video game presence into a single brand, but it still can’t make a full deal. For example, Xbox games are sold in the Microsoft Store, but PC subscribers peruse the Xbox Game Pass for PC library. And never talk about Games for Widows Live, where Microsoft took two years to finally shut down.

Conclusion for you as a consumer: Not many. The design change probably means that Microsoft will save a few cents to engrave the Xbox logo on top. Return to the regularly scheduled E3.
