Nintendo announces Mario Striker: Battle League, a new soccer game
Today, in Nintendo’s latest direct presentation, the company announced Mario Striker: Battle League, a new entry in the series, action-focused football. The game will be released on June 10, but it’s available for pre-order now.
A twist on the original sport, Battle League pits two 5-man teams against each other – as you might expect – to score more points than the opposing team. While the game can be played solo, it also features multiplayer for up to eight people and the ability to join an online soccer league.

The trailer also shows all the gear options that can alter and improve the player’s stats. Taking inspiration from other Nintendo-themed sports games, Battle League encourages players to use a variety of attacks against opponents – including but not limited to tackles, cannonball attacks, and “super attacks” that appear to be very powerful.
Nintendo announced that Battle League pre-orders are available today. The game is coming to Nintendo Switch on June 10.
