In today’s financial report, Nintendo provided the latest global sales data for its popular Switch series of systems. As of September 30, 92.87 million Switch series systems have been sold worldwide. In comparison, the lifetime sales of the Nintendo 3DS were 75.94 million units, while the Wii U was 13.56 units. The system still has a long way to go before it surpasses the 2006 gaming phenomenon Wii, which has lifetime sales of 101.63 million.
Nintendo transferred 3.83 million Switches between July and September 2021. According to Bloomberg, this was down from 4.45 million in the previous quarter. Nintendo’s current operating profit was 100.2 billion yen, far below analysts’ expectations. Nintendo’s current operating profit is expected to be 121.9 billion yen.
