Nvidia was asked to buy Arm, not the other way around

With Nvidia scrambling to acquire Arm, you might think the super-sized U.S. GPU giant was the driving force behind the $40 billion deal. However, according to a recent report to the UK government’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), it was actually Arm’s current owner, SoftBank, who first came to Nvidia’s doorstep.

“Nvidia has not contacted SoftBank to buy Arm,” written by Nvidia and Arm and published to UK government website,Say. “Nvidia is a staunch supporter of the x86 ecosystem and has historically developed accelerated computing platforms for x86 PCs and data centers. Intel and AMD make industry-leading CPUs and SoCs for many industries and products, including Nvidia itself DGX systems and supercomputers such as Cambridge-1.
