Zombie players are looking forward to this week’s Black Ops Cold War Update.
Shared by Treyarch outline New zombie content and additional Black Ops Cold War This Thursday is a mid-season update. There’s no new map for standard round-based zombies, but it’s still a particularly stacked update.
First, Outbreak has its own main quest, also known as the Easter Egg. Since its launch, Outbreak has never really had a meta-purpose beyond the most direct tasks players are required to perform in all regions. This depends on the patch that introduces the quest and new information for hunting.
Outbreak enemies are strengthened by the arrival of the giant Orda boss as a world event. Treyarch also made fun of fishing coming to the Outbreak, but didn’t share much there.
The new content has been extended to weapons and the list of Mystery Box items has been updated to include all post-launch weapons. All zombie weapons are in both standard and pack-a-punch variations and have been enhanced in the same update. As for weapons, outbreak players will be pleased with the availability of unlocked blueprints and attachments for all weapons found within the level.
You can use the Apply Blueprint feature to apply existing settings to a particular weapon. Another great quality of life change in the patch is the ability to ping the world map. In the future, you can expect to be able to track daily challenges, operator missions, etc. in the pause menu, but this week’s update won’t do that.
Something else zombie players are looking forward to is a new crank, a faster version of the mode, available in Firebase Z and Die Maschine as a limited-time event with a mid-season patch.
Looking a little further, Treyarch emphasized that work will continue on the next round-based zombie map that will arrive sometime in Season 4. The new map hasn’t been revealed yet, but will take place after the outbreak quest ends – a good incentive to jump in and finish it when it arrives.
The team is also in the early stages of developing other zombie content, including new perks, support weapons, wonder weapons, and limited-time modes. All of these will arrive over the next few seasons.
