If you get Greedfall when it was free on PlayStation Plus, you will not be eligible for the free PS5 upgrade.
GreedfallBoth the Gold Edition and the recently announced De Vespe Conspiracy extension have been released today. Besides the new content, existing owners are also looking forward to PS5 and Xbox Series X / S upgrade patches that improve performance and visuals.
Unfortunately, this free upgrade is only available to players who have paid for the original Greedfall release. If you’re among the many who introduced the game through the PlayStation Plus promotion from January, the “free” copy will continue to run in backward compatibility mode without any new extensions.
The game’s official Twitter account has previously confirmed this in a torrent of angry comments from followers. Focus Home Interactive, the publisher of Greedfall, declined to comment when contacted, but this was confirmed to be true.
Free versions obtained with a PS + subscription are not eligible for a free upgrade to the PS5 version.

This isn’t the only PlayStation Plus version that has been denied a free next-generation upgrade. As with most other cases, you will need to purchase the Gold Edition to get the upgrade patch.
