PS5 September firmware update will be released tomorrow
Sony announced today, PS5The September firmware update has been in Beta testing for several weeks and will be launched globally tomorrow September 15th. This is the second major update of the console since its launch in November last year.
The September update is the most feature-rich PS5 so far. The highlight is that M.2 SSD supports storage expansion, allowing console owners to expand the available space by inserting a supported 4th generation NVME SSD into a dedicated slot.
Unlike traditional external USB storage solutions, connecting an SSD allows players to install PS5 games on the new storage, which is not possible on a USB external drive. The update also includes 3D audio support for TV speakers, a feature unique to previous headsets.
In addition to these larger new features, the new firmware also brings many customizable features, making it possible to rearrange and hide the icons in the game center.
The game center also provides a new trophy tracker. The new design shows up to five trophies per game on the page.
Finally, this update contains a lot of quality of life adjustments. If you install the same game at the same time, it will list the PS4 and PS5 versions separately. It should also be clearer now-thanks to the new tile design-which version you have.
