If you’re a fan of the soul-like shooter Remnant: From Ash, if you own a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X / S, you have an update to get excited. First, the game is undergoing visual and performance upgrades on today’s consoles from today. Second, the Xbox version now supports cross-play with Windows players.
As with many new generation enhancements, there are two forms of upgrades. You can follow the visual route and increase the resolution to 4K at 30 frames per second. Alternatively, you can play the game at 60fps at 1080p resolution. Remnant also benefits from faster load times on both consoles. The upgrade seems to be free. This is always good news. Especially if you purchased Remnant on your Xbox Game Pass, or as a free PS Plus game in March. The next-generation trailer can be found below.
In addition, Remnant is now available for purchase on PC from the Windows Store after joining the Xbox Game Pass for PC earlier this month. As a result, cross-play is enabled between the Windows 10 version and the Xbox One / Xbox Series X / S versions.
Remnant: From Ash released in August 2019. Challenge up to 4 players to survive the end-of-life world full of supernatural enemies. The gameplay consists of shooting over the shoulders of a third person, with progress and difficulty inspired by Dark Souls. We liked it a lot (read our review), and it ended up being one of the hidden gems of 2019.
Since its launch, the game has received two major DLC updates. The first is the Swamps of Corsus, which adds Rogue-style survival mode and additional content such as new weapons and armor. The second extension, Subject 2923, is story-based and features a whole new area filled with fresh enemies and bosses.
Remnant: With the new paint on From Ash, are you starting another playthrough or are you going on a journey for the first time (preferably with a companion)? Please let us know in the comments.
