Sabre Interactive’s new game looks like a dark dungeon from a steampunk circus
Have you ever wondered what the darkest dungeon would look like if a neo-Victorian circus battled murderous zombies in the steampunk streets of London? This is a very specific addition to ol’ wish list, but if that’s what you want, then Circus Power (opens in new tab) That might be it.
Circus Electrique features elements of a story-driven RPG, tactical combat, and circus management simulation. It follows the adventures of a group of classic circus performers – strongmen, escape artists, clowns, and more – as they work to save the city from the ravages of madness, a supernatural upheaval that will save thousands of innocent people Citizens turned into vicious murders.
It was first announced at the end of 2021, but today we got our first in-depth look at the actual gameplay, and it does take on similarly arranged enemies and turn-based combat in the Darkest Dungeon: A Party of 4 characters (choose from a final total of 15 categories) series , swap special moves and abilities until one side has the upper hand.
Position and morale also play an important role in combat, as does the mental state of your individual fighters: if any of your characters’ morale drops too low, they’ll actually run away from Circus, for you to find (and train) a replacement, or try to live without it.
Because the show has to go on, um, The show must go on: You’ll also be responsible for planning and executing nightly shows to earn money to keep your performers paid and happy. Not only that: your ultimate goal is to figure out how the madness started and how to stop it, which also costs money.
Circus Electrique expected to launch later this year steam (opens in new tab) and Epic Games Store (opens in new tab). Currently, you can playcircusetrique.com (opens in new tab).
