Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II gameplay revealed at the Game Awards
Tonight, at the annual Game Awards ceremony, developer Ninja Theory showed off Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II gameplay for the first time.
At the beginning of the trailer, the protagonist Senua enters a cave with his allies, but there is an incredibly large, human-like beast outside. When the monster entered the cave and then fell on the wall, the team attacked the monster and set it alight. Soon after, Senua’s team burned in the flames as the beast rushed violently around, trying to counter its invaders. Discovering that Senua and the remaining allies were still alive, the crew retreated, desperately trying to escape and retaliate as much as they could.
Senua and her team’s efforts to bring down the beast failed, as it continued to chase them outside the cave and smash the surrounding buildings. The trailer ends with the creature asking Senua for help. Senua replied, “I know you,” because a voice in her mind said “It’s you.” The trailer was over.
The host Geoff Keighley said at the end of the trailer that what we saw was not the movie, but the real gameplay, although it is hard to say how anything shown in the trailer actually interacts-the camera has been in the process. Shaking constantly. The trailer seems to indicate that at least part of it is actually cutscenes. At least, everything we see runs in the engine.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will be released on Xbox Series X/S and PC. It will also be available through Xbox’s Game Pass subscription service. No release date was given.
