Skate 4 may arrive sooner than expected
I didn’t expect to hear about the Skate 4 anytime soon. It wasn’t until 2020 that EA announced a reboot of the Fisheye Street Shredder, suggesting it launched a new studio a few months later.
This is something I suspect won’t have any concrete news in the next few years. But based on EA’s most recent earnings call, we may be launching our sneakers on Skate sooner than expected.
Speak on EA’s Q3 2022 earnings call (via adjust town), CEO Andrew Wilson pointed to Skate as he commented around user-generated content, noting that it will be at the heart of the skateboarding revival experience, which is said to be “coming soon.”
“It’s at the heart of modes like FIFA Ultimate and even Madden Ultimate Team, and it’s at the heart of our upcoming Skate design,” Wilson said. “So the concept of UGC or user-generated content is really just an extension of the social interaction where I can experience the best entertainment on earth with my friends in and around. So I believe this is happening to be a very important part of our future. “
We’ll have to wait and see what Wilson’s definition of “soon” ends up being. But hopefully this means we’ll start seeing more details about Skate in the coming months. But in the meantime, there are plenty of weird and wonderful skateboarding games worth checking out, including next week’s delightful OlliOlli World.
