After years of acclaimed PlayStation exclusive remake, Sony finally officially brought Bluepoint Games into the PlayStation family. Hermen Hulst, the head of the PlayStation studio, announced the acquisition on the PlayStation blog and posted an announcement video on Twitter, welcoming the new studio.
“Each of Bluepoint’s projects raises the bar for console-defined visual effects and gameplay. The studio’s extensive expertise in world building and character creation will bring huge advantages to future PlayStation Studios assets,” Hulst said on What Bluepoint brings to Sony’s product portfolio.
Bluepoint retains the core spirit of the game while updating modern visual effects and mechanisms when it makes sense, making itself a top studio for developing game remakes. The studio is known for works such as “Uncharted: Nathan Drake Series”, the 2018 “Shadow of the Colossus” remake and last year’s PlayStation 5 release game “Devil’s Soul”. We don’t know which game Bluepoint is currently developing, but whether it’s a remake of a classic (fingers crossed to update Bloodborne) or something brand new, we are all happy to play any game.
