Since its announcement in July, the Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl has been making waves as the potential next large platform fighter. Its premise is simple, adopt the formula that makes Super Smash Bros great, and transform another set of beloved characters into a similar game. For developers Ludocity and Fair Play Labs, this list is the popular Nicktoons team from the early 90s to today. In the new game trailer, Fair Play’s Markus Villalobos breaks down Krabby Patty’s actions to flip the sea resident Spongebob Squarepants.
Villalobos describes SpongeBob as “all-rounders” and “all-rounders.” He is the perfect character for new players to join the game and start arguing. The character movement set is associated with direction input and light, strong and special attack buttons. SpongeBob’s light and strong attacks are fairly standard.
An excellent move is his strong neutral attack, which can wave his trusted jellyfish net on the ground or in mid-air. SpongeBob’s “Imaginaaation Kick”-executed by hitting and powerful aerial attacks-releases a downward rainbow axe kick. Villalobos pointed out that this kind of attack is a move that opponents will hate when they return to the edge of the stage.
SpongeBob’s special attacks are naturally more gorgeous. He can blow bubble bombs to cause damage to enemies from a distance, use his hydrodynamic shovel as a propeller to jump into the air, and use a rechargeable chewing attack to take a big bite from the opponent. I am very happy to see the memes that laugh at SpongeBob SquarePants become a mocker of All-Star Brawl.
In the second half of the video, we can see the stage “Jellyfish Field” well and an expanded demonstration of SpongeBob’s ability in battle.
Nicktoons All-Star Brawl will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC on October 5. Have you noticed that April O’Neil and Catdog have joined the roster? Which roles are you looking forward to viewing? Why is a powdered toast person? Let me know in the comments!
