Stardew Valley creator’s next game will feature boss fights

The creators of Stardew Valley are currently busy developing haunted chocolatierbut recently took the time to share some music composed for the game.

Appear in Latest Reasons Live, Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone discusses creating the soundtrack and shares the “Boss Bee” tune, which has a little buzz. Based on the effects and cues dropped by Barone, it sounds like we’re going to be fighting a big bee in the game, right?

This means that, unlike Stardew Valley, there will be boss fights at the Haunted Chocolate Shop.

Nothing is known about the game other than the fact that it appears to be similar to Stardew Valley, teased by a trailer released in the fall.

At the time, Barone said the Haunted Chocolate Shop would explore “wonderful possibilities” and offer experiences that would take you beyond the ordinary.

It’s still early in development, and at its core, Barone says, like Stardew Valley, you’ll be collecting ingredients (like you’d be cooking), but you’ll be making chocolate and running a chocolate shop instead of making dishes and Run a farm. Not only that, but Barone didn’t delve into the gameplay as it was in the early stages of development.

For now, the game has only been released for PC, but it will also be coming to other major platforms.

Haunted Chocolatier isn’t the only game in development at Barone. Back in 2020, he revealed that he was working on two new games, but it’s still a long way from being done. He also said one takes place in a world in Stardew Valley, but not a farming game. Another, he’s not 100% sure about the world yet, but it’s going to tie into Stardew Valley in some way.

As of March 2022, Stardew Valley has sold over 20 million copies across all platforms (up from the 15 million reported in September 2021) and 13 million on PC alone.
