Legendary Japanese developer SUDA51 has announced that he recently held several meetings with Marvel Studios to discuss the opportunity to create video games based on some of the iconic characters from the company’s extensive back catalog. SUDA51 has always said he would love to develop a video game based on Marvel properties. But if that doesn’t work out, then he’s ready to develop new original IP for Grasshopper Manufacture. Grasshopper is currently on the cusp of an extensive hiring campaign to add studios for future games, with plans to develop three new games over the next decade. Here’s what the creators of No More Heroes have to say:
“However, we also said that, if anything, we want to make IP based on attractive original work. I think it will depend on our discussions with Marvel Studios. If Marvel Studios comes up with a good stuff, we’ll consider it.”
He then joked: “Sorry, I said it from top to bottom, I was just joking.
“But we’ve had several meetings with Marvel, and we’ve discussed the possibility of collaborating on something. We hope the power of video games will help increase those opportunities.
“Basically, though, we’ll continue to create more original IP for Grasshopper Manufacture.”
