Bloomberg reported today that Chinese game company Tencent has quietly acquired Japanese developer Soleil. Soleil is known for the Nintendo Switch game Ninjala and helped create Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes. This move is part of a talent acquisition to strengthen Tencent’s game studio. The Chinese company has acquired up to 90% of Soleil at a cost of more than 5 billion yen ($44 million). As Bloomberg pointed out, Tencent rarely takes over entire studios, so this is the first time for a company that usually invests in small amounts.
