The Initiative, Microsoft’s studio for developing the new Perfect Dark, announced a new partnership with another major studio under its parent company. In a tweet tonight, it was revealed that The Initiative has recruited the services of Crystal Dynamics to develop a new version of this classic Rare shooting game.
“The perfect dark update! We are working with Crystal Dynamics, the world-class team behind role-driven games such as Tomb Raider to bring this first-person spy thriller to a new generation,” The Initiative account Reads in the announcement tweet. Except for the short statement in the second tweet, I don’t know why The Initiative added Crystal Dynamics to help develop Perfect Dark. He said: “The team cannot give up the opportunity to collaborate. We are still in the early stages of development, but we are very happy to take advantage of this uniqueness. Opportunity to realize the vision of Perfect Dark!”

Crystal Dynamics has become famous in recent years for its successful restart of the Tomb Raider series, bringing a more gritty survivalist feeling to Laura Croft and her adventures. Of course, Crystal Power also released last year’s Marvel Avengers, which continues to receive free updates, such as the recent Battle of Wakanda expansion.
We will wait for more news about what role Crystal Dynamics will play in the breathless Perfect Dark development. In the meantime, check out the game’s trailer, which debuted at The Game Awards last year. Perfect Dark does not currently have a release window, but it is expected to be released on Xbox consoles and PCs when it is released.
