Total War: Warhammer 3’s first patch should arrive this week
Total War: Warhammer 3 released last week to generally positive reviews, despite some skepticism about its performance and stability. (Looks like the Chaos Gods really don’t like players using alt-tab.) Creative Conference announced todaya series of fixes for various issues is underway, the first one is scheduled for this week, but with a plethora of caveats, “Please note that this may change based on many factors – some of which are beyond our control” .
The current plan is for this initial patch to address issues experienced by players running DirectX 12, frame rate issues connecting to Intel CPUs, and an issue with multiplayer lobbies that refreshed so quickly that it was difficult until the list refreshed again actually choose one.
Performance issues are a top priority for Creative Assembly’s plans to run the patch because “in addition to crashes and other critical issues that we’re working on, we know very well — as gamers themselves — that the performance of a game is what you enjoy about it. ability.”
Rather than waiting to piece together one big patch that solves numerous problems, the plan is to “take a surgical approach to solving them: deploy smaller patches at a faster rate, rather than waiting for patches to be compiled to address multiple problems at once. One reason for this is to ensure fixes are thoroughly tested and don’t cause further stability issues before bundling them together, but also because “the more fixes in the build, the more likely it will cause problems with The greater the risk of problems with other elements. The game or the platform on which the game is published.”
Once this series of smaller fixes is over, future updates will obviously make more significant changes. “We’ll let you know when we have the exact dates for the current, next and next patches so you can look forward to them,” Creative Assembly said.
At the same time, running Warhammer 3 in windowed mode reduced my crashes, although I had to quit and restart after changing that option to get the game to align correctly with my actual screen.
