Twitch adds new account verification options to help combat hate attacks

As part of its efforts to combat “hate attacks” and other abuses, Twitch has confirmed that it is adding a new “phone-verified chat” option, which will allow anchors to better control who can participate in their channel. The existing email verification system has also been expanded to be more “detailed.”

The new verification requirements can be determined by channel owners and moderators on all accounts, first chat, specific age (1 hour, 1 day, 2 days, 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months, 6 Month), or follow an account with insufficient time. VIPs, subscribers and moderators can also use the exemption option.
