UK Charts: Pokemon Legend Arceus is No. 1 Again
Brick-and-mortar game tracker GfK Entertainment has released its latest UK sales charts. This time, the GfK top 10 is for the week ending February 5, 2022. This is the second week that Pokemon: Arceus has launched in the region, and the game is once again at the top of the charts.
However, the new Pokemon game is not that easy. Not only did the game’s physical sales drop 72% week-over-week, but it had to delay the debut of Dying Light 2, which managed to land at No. 2. Pokemon Legends: Arceus is one of five Nintendo first-party games on the charts, and that doesn’t even include the Switch version of Minecraft, which continues to perform well.
Believe it or not, another Nintendo-related game is Mario and Sonic at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The combination of retail promotions and the arrival of the Beijing Winter Olympics resulted in a 263% increase in brick-and-mortar sales for SEGA’s game, enabling it to rank 15th.
