UK Charts: Xbox Series X|S No. 1 in March, Switch sales drop but still No. 1 in 2022

The latest video game software and hardware charts have been released in March. The number one console of the month was the Xbox Series X|S console, with additional inventory showing up. The Nintendo Switch family of systems was the second best-selling system, but sales fell 21% sequentially. Despite declining sales of the Nintendo Switch family of systems, it remains the No. 1 platform for 2022 so far. Sony’s PlayStation 5 console was the third best-selling system, although it continued to suffer from shortages. The best-selling game in March was the critically acclaimed Elden Ring.

“Xbox Series X and S saw the biggest sales increase in March, up 61% compared to February. Microsoft’s line of consoles was the best-selling device in March, helped by the arrival of more Series X inventory.”

“Nintendo Switch sales were down 21% month-over-month, but it was still the second-best-selling console in March. The Nintendo platform remains the year’s top-selling console so far.”

“The PS5 remains in third place due to the continued shortage of consoles. However, Sony’s inventory of the latest machine did increase by 45% compared to the previous month.”
