WWE Returns in March with WWE 2K22, Rey Mysterio on Cover

Put on your mask, fuel your muscles and get ready for the 619 who will dare to join you in the ring – WWE 2K22 has been announced, coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC March 11, 2022.

In case you haven’t been paying attention, this is the first WWE 2K game since 2019’s absolutely disastrous game WWE 2K20, console and PC. Previous games have seen some or all game modes inaccessible, and the title has also been plagued by performance bugs.

Check out the first trailer below – showing off new cover star Rey Mysterio.

It looks like 2K has learned its lesson.First, the developers have packed the title with what players have been calling for over the past few years, most notably the MyGM modeHere, you’ll be calling the shots for one of sports entertainment’s biggest brands, as you’re tasked with “drawing up a roster of WWE’s greatest stars, deciding who’s going to clash in head-to-head matches, and fight for glory in championship matchups.”

The classic mode will go hand in hand with the new mode my faction mode where you can “collect and manage your dream superstar faction and compete in weekly events”. Probably a bit like the FUT thing in FIFA. “Full of exciting challenges and great replay value, MyFACTION offers an intense adventure and constant updates to keep things fresh,” the developers said in a press release.

The game will also include an “upgraded creation kit and cosmic mode,” so if you want to make Sonic the Hedgehog or Archer, or a girl in Yellojackets or something, you can do it. According to the publisher, it’s a “complete overhaul,” so hopefully it addresses some of the more serious… issues in 2K20.

As for the cover stars, Mysterio is on the cover as wrestlers alongside Roman Reigns, Becky Lynch, AJ Styles, Seth Rollins, Brock Lesnar, Stone Cold Steve Austin, John Cena and The Rock. Mysterio will be featured in showcase mode at WWE 2K22 Presenting his career in brilliant video game form, you’ll be able to play and relive key episodes of his life so far.

“As the cover superstar of WWE 2K22, representing the culture of lucha libre is a very proud moment for me,” said Mysterio. “I look forward to sharing the stories behind important moments in my career with a dedicated community of players and connecting with WWE fans in a whole new way as they play through my 2K Showcase.”

Because nothing is easy, the game itself will be available in four versions: Standard Edition, Intergenerational Digital Edition, Deluxe Edition and nWo 4-Life Digital Edition. The Deluxe Edition includes a Season Pass (including five sets of DLC, post-launch) and three days of Early Access, as well as an Undertaker Immortal Pack with three characters.
