You can now check if your Steam library is compatible with the Steam platform
Steam Deck is coming soon, which means anyone lucky enough to get a unit will soon be diving into their Steam library on the new device.Games have received their “Deck Verified” status It’s been a while, but as promised a few months ago, Valve has released a tool to check your library’s compatibility with Steam Deck in one click, and it’s super easy to use.
All you need to do is Click this link and log in, your library will be divided into three main categories. The first are Deck Verified games, which are fully functional and can be played without fiddling. In addition to obvious candidates like Portal 2, such games in my library include Spelunky Games, Dead Cells, Dirt Rally, and the surprising Valkyria Chronicles.
Then there are deck playables, which include things that work well but may “require extra effort to interact with or configure”. Some games in my library include GTA 5, Cities Skylines, Pillars of Eternity, and Civilization VI. In other words, games that require a third-party launcher or work best with a mouse and keyboard.
The third category is unsupported games, which means that Valve has confirmed that they cannot work with the Steam platform. For me, that includes Surviving Mars, Just Cause 2, Friday the 13th: The Game, and Treasure. Jody also checked and found Lost Ark, Outlast, Vermintide 2, and Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines in unsupported games.
Finally there is the untested deck game, which makes up the vast majority of games in my library. That doesn’t mean these games don’t work: it just means Valve didn’t test them. There’s a good chance they’ll be put to the test soon, though, as Valve is “speeding up” its testing. “We are constantly testing new games and will continue after launch,” according to a company announcement. “The Steam back catalog is huge, with new games being released every day.”
Yes, the Steam lookback catalog is huge, but I’m sure they’ll take the time to determine the compatibility level (casts line into Steam’s new releases this week) Pointless Car Chase: Come on.
