If you’re trying to figure out what to do after being bitten in Project Zomboid, we’ve got some bad news, and more. Scrapers with zombies have a chance to slap you with a terminal Knox infection, but it may take days to determine if you’re infected. You might also find those disgusting and disgusting emotions and wonder if you should expect the worst.
The Zomboid program doesn’t always tell you the story, so we’ll help you figure out if you’re just eating something you shouldn’t, or if you’re about to turn green permanently. Here’s a breakdown of what it means when you’re sick, and what to do if you definitely get bitten in a Zomboid project.
What does it mean if you feel nauseous or nauseous in Project Zomboid?
If your character has nausea or nausea, it is possible that they have contracted the deadly Knox infection. Check your health panel by clicking the heart icon in the left panel. Any wounds will be listed below the affected body part. If you don’t have any wounds, you probably just ate raw or spoiled food. Eat a proper meal, take a break, and you’ll eventually start to feel better.
If you have lacerations, scratches, or bites, you may be in trouble. While lacerations and scratches from zombies only have a chance to infect your character, Zombie bites have a 100% spread rate. Queasy is the first moodle in the illness chain, followed by nausea, sickness, then fever. Ultimately, eating and resting is not enough to keep you going and you will continue to lose health until you die.
What to do if you get bitten in Project Zomboid
So now you have the bad news. Zombie bites have a 100% transmission rate of Knox infection and a 100% fatality rate. If you get bitten, you will die. The slightly less bad news is that the infection takes a while to kill you, so you can choose to spend your character’s final days wisely.
After a character is bitten, I try to use the time they have left to help with the character I’m going to play next. I might do a lot of supply foraging so my next character can find a good food pantry, or send them out to discover more maps that my next character will benefit from. If you get bitten, there are a few other things you may want to do:
- Store your favorite gear and weapons where your next character can find them.
- Sacrifice yourself by making a lot of noise to lure nearby zombies away from your chosen base.
- Make sure you die somewhere remote so your zombified self isn’t protected from their gear by your next survivor.
What if the wound becomes infected?
Finally, here’s some good news. If you open the health panel and see that the wound is “infected”, that’s a typical infection, not a Knox infection. Once the wound is infected, it’s too late to use alcohol wipes or disinfectant. Instead, make sure to eat and rest adequately. Keep the health panel open so that the bandage can be changed as soon as it gets dirty. You can replenish your stash by ripping off excess clothing or washing a soiled rag in a source of water. Unlike those nasty bites, keep the infection under control and you will eventually recover.
